BLIZZARD DEFEAT GRANITE AND WILLMAR FOR WEEKEND SWEEP

Undefeated Granite City rolled into the RCC Friday night for what is always a high intensity matchup. Caleb Waller got the Blizzard on the board with his 11th goal of the season with Stallman and Boughton earning the assist early in the opening period. At the 7:57 mark of the 1st, Kaden Roness doubled the Blizzard lead on a play from Breiland and Friborg but Granite was able to get on the board late in the 1st period. Granite was able to apply good pressure during the middle period and tied the game up at the 11:13 mark of the 2nd turning the game to a 20 minute dual. Tyler Meyer netted his 3rd goal of the season early in the 3rd to regain the lead for the Blizzard on a pass from Foley and the Blizzard held off the Jacks who pulled their goalie with 3 minutes remaining in the 3rd. Ethan Boughton, while the Blizzard were shorthanded netted an empty netter to seal the win for the Blizzard Friday night. Serene stopped 31 of 33 shots.

Blizzard remained home on Saturday with Willmar returning to the RCC and Reece Hubmer got the Blizzard off to a quick start scoring 30 seconds into the game. The Warhawks got on the board at the 6:29 mark to tie the game with the Blizzard rallying in the middle period. As in the 1st, Hubmer once again got an early goal this time from Stallman and Roness to regain the lead. Grady Stallman added a goal of his own midway through the 2nd from Waller and Reece Hubmer finished off the hat trick with a PPG at the 4:23 mark from Friborg and Roness making it 4-1 Blizzard. The Warhawks managed to net a PPG halfway through the 3rd period making it a 2 goal game but Caleb Waller added a security goal with just over 3 minutes to play from Boughton and Boughton.
