The Alexandria Blizzard are seeking good homes to house a Blizzard player for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. Players in the NA3HL come from all over of the country and around the globe. When they arrive in Alexandria they need a place to live during the season. This is where host families are very important, by performing the incredibly vital job of providing Blizzard hockey players with a place to live while these young men train and prepare to play ice hockey at the collegiate and professional levels. Billets invite these players into their homes to be a part of their family for seven months out of the year. They are not tenants, but a part of your family. The unique bond your family will form with the player(s) you host last a lifetime, as it is not uncommon for players, years after their time in the league, to keep in close contact with their former billet families, keeping them informed of their collegiate, professional and family lives. It is easy to become a housing family for the Alexandria Blizzard.
It is required that the billet families provide:. 1. A family atmosphere while players live away from home. 2. A separate bedroom for the player(s), to include bed and linens. 3. Internet access during the day and evening. 4. Cooked meal for dinner, and make available healthy food for breakfast and lunch (players may make their own breakfasts/lunches). Housing families are compensated a monthly stipend of $400 per player to help defray costs. In addition your family receives season tickets per immediate family member for the Blizzard home games. Blizzard players generally report to Alexandria on Labor Day weekend and stay until the end of the season in mid-late March. While here, the players must adhere to a strict set of rules which are observed at the rink, at home and in the community. Family/ house rules are also part of the guidelines for the players.
The Alexandria Blizzard are looking for housing families, both short- and long-term. If you have questions or are interested in becoming a housing family, please contact:
