Twin City survives Alexandria comeback, wins 3-2

Alexandria tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but Twin City would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Twin City took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Alexandria storm back on a Logan Nelson goal 19:15 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Twin City was led by Zak Lambrecht, who registered one goal. Lambrecht scored 17:22 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Twin City. Yannick Zehnder assisted on the tally.

Twin City stifled Alexandria\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Twin City got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Twin City also had goals scored by Brenden Russ and Bennett Witta, who each put in one. In addition, Twin City received assists from Jared Erickson, Joe Costello, and Luc Kreuser, who each chipped in one.

Alexandria\’s penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled five minors and two majors for 50 minutes in penalty time. Alexandria had been averaging 28.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Alexandria was helped by Tony Arias, who finished with one goal. Arias scored 19:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alexandria. Nelson picked up the assist. Alexandria additionally got points from Nelson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Alexandria came via Trent Olson, Logan Norman, and Caleb Anderson, who contributed one each.

Nathan Siclovan made 19 saves for Twin City on 21 shots. Twin City totaled 38 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Chance Kremer rejected 24 shots on goal for Alexandria. Alexandria registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
