Twin City stifles Alexandria’s comeback, gains 3-2 victory

The Alexandria Blizzard almost clawed their way back from a four-goal deficit, but the Twin City Steel managed to pull out a 3-2 win in the end.

Twin City led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Steel\’s Calvin Miska\’s scored at 4:35 in the second period to put Twin City up 4-0.

Jace Childs had two goals to lead the Steel to victory. Childs scored short handed at 10:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Twin City and again while on the power play 18:01 into the first to make the score 2-0 Twin City.

Twin City\’s penalty kill excelled, as the Steel gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Twin City kept Alexandria\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Patrick Anderson made 28 saves on 31 shots.

Twin City also got a goal from Brandon Taylor as well. More assists for Twin City came via Ben Ihrie and Zach Randell, who each chipped in one.

The Blizzard did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Alexandria puts an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. The Steel were unable to stop the Blizzard from sending pucks towards the net, and Alexandria eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

The Blizzard were helped by Ian Ecklund, who had one goal. Ecklund scored 19:29 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Twin City. Joe Anderson assisted on the tally. Alexandria also got points from Anderson, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Zach Kihle, Danny Pelzer, and Nate Mettenburg, who contributed one a piece.

Twin City\’s Jackson Germaine stopped 41 shots out of the 43 that he faced. The Steel incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Alexandria incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
