BLIZZARD FALL FRIDAY NIGHT BUT EARN SPLIT WITH SATURDAY 4-2 WIN

Mason City took the early lead Friday night with a pair of 1st period goals before Kaden Roness got the Blizzard on the board at the 16:03 mark of the 2nd period from Dillan Smidt to cut the lead in half. The Toros responded shortly after making it 3-1 only to have the Blizzard respond with a Caleb Waller goal with Blake Breiland earning the assist to make it a one goal game again. Once again, the Toros had an answer scoring less than a minute after the Waller goal with Waller answering that goal two minutes later on a play from Jack Johnson and Wyatt Mineheine making it a 3-4 game heading into the 3rd period. Zach Benson tied the game for the Blizzard at the 15:49 mark of the 3rd from Tyler Meyer and yet again, Mason City had an answer scoring 30 seconds after to regain the lead. Late in the 3rd at the 2:18 mark, Kaeden Krieg made it a 5-5 game from Waller but the Toros found another goal with 1:13 remaining to earn the win Friday. Serene stopped 38 of 44 in net.

The Blizzard came out hot Saturday night scoring just 15 seconds into the game on a Wyatt Mineheine goal coming from Caleb Waller. Midway through the 1st Easton Schmit doubled the Blizzard lead coming from Stallman and Waller with Waller getting a goal of his own at the 4:40 mark of the 1st with Lazo and Schmit earning the assists and giving the Blizzard a 3 goal lead after the first period. The scoring cooled down until halfway through the 2nd with the Toros getting on the board at the 7:42 mark of the 2nd and Blake Breiland netted the 4th Blizzard goal in the final minute of the 3rd for a 4-1 lead. Mason City would add their 2nd of the night with 30 seconds remaining with the Blizzard earning the weekend split with the 4-2 win. Bode Ekblad stopped 24 of 26 in the win.
