BLIZZARD CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT WITH 8-3 VICTORY OVER MOOSE
The Moose got a quick start on Friday at Fogerty arena with an opening minute goal in the 1st period and doubled their lead at the 4:33 mark. Maxim Lazo got the Blizzard on the board cutting the lead in half with a power play goal at the 1:46 mark with Carpenter and Mineheine earning the assist. The Moose regained a two goal lead netting one at the 8:09 mark of the 2nd period with Waller quickly answering at the 7:38 mark on a play from Stallman and Crutcher. Lazo would add his second of the night at the 1:06 mark of the 2nd to tie the game at 3. Lazo finished off the hat trick at the 7:23 mark of the 3rd period with the Blizzard taking a 4-3 lead with the assists going to Friborg and Roness. With less than two minutes to play, the Moose tied the game and at the 4:11 mark of OT, the Moose netted the game winner. Serene stopped 31 of 36 on the night.
Back at the RCC Saturday night for Diekman’s Jewelry Diamond Hunt, the Blizzard got on the board at the 12:54 mark of the 1st with Lazo from Roness and Hubmer. Waller made it 2-0 Blizzard from Schmit and Mineheine before the Moose were able to get on the board at the 3:53 mark of the opening period. Roness quickly responded less than a minute later to make it 3-1 from Breiland and Friborg. In a penalty filled middle period, the Blizzard capitalized with 3 power play goals. The first coming from Lazo, Schmit and Waller with Waller then scoring from Schmit and Stallman. Roness then netted another from Carpenter making it 6-1 Blizzard midway through the game. The Moose added their 2nd goal at the 7:12 mark of the second with the penalties flowing over to the 3rd period. Wyatt Mineheine got the Blizzard’s 7th goal from Waller and Stallman and Kaden Ronness finished his hat trick at the 8:52 mark from Smidt and Carpenter. Moose would add a goal late in the 3rd with the Blizzard crusing to a 8-3 win and clinching a playoff spot.
