Logan Nelson led the way with a hat trick as the Alexandria Blizzard crushed the Breezy Point North Stars 9-4 in a home game at Breezy Point Hockey Center in Alexandria. Brenden Payne and Alec Skar also had big nights with 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) and 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) respectively. What's more, the Alexandria Blizzard's offense had a big night, peppering the North Stars with 48 shots throughout the game. The Alexandria Blizzard took the lead before the halfway point in the second on a goal from Logan Nelson.
Luke Benson chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Peter Johnson contributed with 2 assists. Erik Gadbois delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Jordan Gibson had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 2 assists.
During the first, Benson opened the scoring for the Blizzard with a goal at 3:45 with a helper from his linemate Thompson. Skar netted a goal at 12:13 with helpers from his teammates Benson and Hermann. Maucieri finally put Breezy Point on the board with a goal at 19:06 with assists from Flicek and Kram. Frerichs quickly followed with a goal at 19:45 with helpers from Skar and Meister.
In the second period, Gadbois answered for the North Stars with a goal at 0:26 with assists from his linemates, Tubbs and Gibson. Payne answered for Alexandria with a goal at 5:35 with helpers from his linemates, Nelson and Todd. Nelson netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 10:30 with assists from his linemates, Giorgio and Payne. Petroske answered for Breezy Point with a goal at 15:09 with helpers from his linemates, Krueger and Fladebo. Skar answered for Alexandria with a goal at 17:24. Payne quickly followed with a goal at 17:57 with assists from Johnson and Meister.
During the third period, Nelson put in a goal at 0:51 with helpers from Skar and Johnson. Nelson scored a goal at 8:18 with assists from his linemates, Giorgio and Payne. Morin answered for Breezy Point with a goal at 15:49 with helpers from Gadbois and Gibson.
Alexandria’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Meyers’ big night as he stopped 38 of the 42 shots he faced. Meyers’ counterpart, Martinez, also had a big night, managing to stop 26 of 32, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Alexandria Blizzard’s record to (29-14-1-1).
