The Alexandria Blizzard found themselves in familiar territory Friday night as they made the short trip down to Granite City to battle the LumberJacks. With a quick opening goal by Portner, the Jack’s put the Blizzard down 0-1 until Tyler Kludt netted his 9th goal of the season to make it a tie game going into the first intermission. Kludt’s goal came at the 16:56 mark with Markus Olson and Sam Taylor getting the helpers.
Just over half way through the second period, Tyle Kludt beat Bennett once again for his 10th of the season, this time with Gaborik Olson getting the lone assist to give the Blizzard their first lead of the game. Shortly after Johnson tied the game 2-2 for the LumberJacks heading into the third period beating LaCosse at the 16:03 mark.
Both teams battled late into the third period until Justin Wasvick netted the game winner at the 15:16 mark on a play from Matt Scribner and Eli Fletcher for his 13th goal of the season. Joe Gronholz got the empty netter to seal the victory for the Blizzard and they take the 4-2 win and momentum into the NA3HL Showcase in Blaine.
Granite City held the shots on goal advantage 45 to 24 with Nolan LaCosse stopping 43 of the Jack’s shots.
