HOW SWEEP IT IS

Dec 19, 2023

There is just something about the NA3HL Showcase that brings out the best in the Alexandria Blizzard as they went 3-0 again this year beating the Wausau Cyclones today 4-1. After an early penalty on the Cyclones, Markus Olson opened the scoring for the Blizzard with a power play goal coming just a minute into the first period with Aiden Prohaska getting the lone assist. The Blizzard thought they had their second goal of the period before it was waived off and the Cyclones tied the game up at the 3:53 mark of the first on a Brien goal. With another power play opportunity, the Blizzard were able to beat Bonjernoor once again with Joe Gronholz netting a power play goal on a play from Karsten Senden and Justin Wasvick at the 6:28 mark. Later in the first the Blizzard produced some even strength offense as Jack Dube doubled the Blizzards lead with Dalton Moyer and Ashton Collings getting the helpers at 14:39 of the first period.

After a penalty filled first period, the Blizzard once again found themselves with the man advantage and Eli Fletcher made the Cyclones pay once again on a play from Justin Wasvick and Karsten Senden at the 3:12 mark of the second period making it 4-1 Blizzard. Both sides were unable to generate any offense after the Fletcher goal with the Blizzard taking home the 4-1 victory and going 3-0 at the NA3HL Showcase. Alexandria held a 37 to 17 shots on goal advantage with the Blizzard going 3 for 8 on the power play as the Cyclones racked up over 100 penalty minutes in the game.

With going 3-0 at the Showcase, the Blizzard outscored their opponents 14 to 4 and will be on break until facing the Mason City Toros at the RCC on December 29th and 30th. Tickets can be found at https://tickets.alexandriablizzard.com/
