Blizzard Streaking Toward Russian Game

Nov 30, 2011

ALEXANDRIA, Minn.–With less than three weeks until the Russian Red Stars come to Alexandria, the Blizzard are gearing up for their international showdown.  The team has won three straight and 8 of their last ten as they continue to build on the best start in franchise history.

Tucker Coborn, a returning contributor from last season’s Central Division Championship team, feels the team is finding a groove, claiming that, “Everyone is buying in to (Coach) Doc’s style and we have a solid group of rookies.  [Plus,] all four lines have been scoring so that helps a ton.”

The team has also received superb goaltending from Jacob Meyers, who received the NAHL’s 1st Star of the Week honors for his play over Thanksgiving weekend.

When asked about the upcoming contest against the Russian Red Stars, Coborn wasted little time admitting, “Yeah, we’re pretty pumped about that game”.

All of this preparation is good news for the Blizzard and their fans as they will know little about their opponent prior to taking the ice against them on December 19th.  The Red Stars only have one game in the U.S. prior to playing the Blizzard, which is its matchup versus the University of North Dakota on December 17th.

Tickets for ‘Alexandria’s Miracle Match-up’ are on sale and can be purchased in advance by calling the Blizzard’s Office at 320-763-7600 or in person at the Runestone Community Center.

Feel the excitement, weather the storm!!!
