BLIZZARD FALL TO WARHAWKS, RESPOND WITH 5-0 WIN OVER MOOSE
The Blizzard traveled to Willmar Friday night with the WarHawks striking first at the 13:25 mark of the first. Waller shortly answered at the 11:08 mark from Stallman and Schmit but Willmar regained the lead on a power play goal late in the 1st period. The Blizzard opened the 2nd period hot scoring 4 unanswered goals. The first coming from Hubmer-Roness, with Waller adding two with Mineheine assisting on both and Johnson getting a helper on the first Waller goal. Roness had the 4th Blizzard goal of the period from Hubmer before Willmar added one of their own late in the period for a 5-3 game. The 3rd period was all Willmar with the WarHawks scoring at the 18:06, 13:45 and 5:05 mark for the 6-5 win over the Blizzard. Adam Holien stopped 19 of 25 shots in the loss.
Saturday night had the teams scoreless in the first period at Fogerty Ice Arena before Stallman netted a goal at the 6:07 mark from Waller and Schmit and added his second of the night in the final minute of the 2nd period, also coming from Waller and Schmit. The Blizzards recent addition, Job Carpenter got on the board at the 3:04 mark of the 3rd period from Benson and Collings with Waller and Kritzeck both scoring in the final two minutes of play. Smidt and Johnson earned the helpers on Wallers goal and Benson had the lone assist on the Kritzech goal. Serene stopped 44 SOG earning the shutout and win.
Blizzard face the Moose again on Feb 6th on the road and home at the RCC Feb 7th battling the Moose again.
