Alexandria came through with a 4-3 overtime victory against the reigning Fraser Cup Champions Rochester Grizzlies. Sean Kenny scored off a beautiful 2 on 1 with Ethan Moerke to complete the Showcase sweep in Blaine. Ryan Hadland continued his hot streak with two 1st period goals and Moerke scored on a wrister to give the Blizzard a brief 3-2 lead in the 2nd but Rochester fought back each time until Kenny’s 10th goal in 9 games ended it. Joe Gronhloz tacked on another 2 points and Wyatt Johnson extended his assist streak to 8 games. Kyle Abrahamson made 26 saves for his 9th victory.
Game two of the NA3HL showcase had the Blizzard roll all over the Norwich Sea Captains for a 10-0 victory with a 7 goal second period and 69 SOG to Norwich’s 7 giving Alex Lamont a shutout victory. Bazl Cook scored his 1st and 2nd junior hockey goals and Gronholz netted his 15th of the season during the second period flurry. Also of note was the Blizzard PP unit going 3 for 3 on the night.
The Blizzard remain on the road after Christmas break to take on the New Ulm Steel on December 30th at 7:10P with the action on HockeyTV and you can kick off your New Years Eve plans at the RCC with the Blizzard hosting the Minnesota Loons December 31st at 7:10P.
