BLIZZARD SEE WIN STREAK SNAPPED AS THEY FALL TO GRANITE CITY

In what is always a close, physical game, the Granite City LumberJacks and Alexandria Blizzard headed to the locker rooms after the 1st period tied 0-0 and it wasn’t until midway through the 2nd period that the Blizzard beat Ryan Lehet short handed with a Reece Hubmer shot with Justin Wasvick and Gaborik Olson getting the assists. The 1-0 lead held until late in the 2nd when Louko scored for the LumberJacks in the final seconds of the period.

The Blizzard and Granite traded goals roughly midway through the 3rd with the LumberJacks taking the lead at the 8:38 mark on a Lepisto goal with Reece Humber having a quick answer at the 10:09 mark to tie the game. George Moore and Justin Wasvick earned the helpers on Humber’s 2nd goal of the game. As expected, the teams skated tied at 2 late into the 3rd period with Granite City getting a power play and retaking the lead at the 13:21 mark of the 3rd on a Widman goal. With LaCosse pulled for the final minute of play, the Blizzard were unable to get the equalizer with Granite getting an empty net goal at the 19:52 mark for the 4-2 win.
