Alexandria opened up 2022 in front of their home crowd with a dominating performance over the Minnesota Loons. The Blizzard outshot the Loons 59-22 and scored 4 power play goals en route to a 9-2 victory. Cole Klingbeil got the Blizzard off to a fast start scoring three minutes into the game. Matt McIntyre and Alex Heidenreich assisted on Klingbeil’s 11th of the year. Erick Sanborn made it 2-0 scoring from the point with assists from Ryan Hadland and Matt Scribner. Moments later Kyle Mischke scored his 1st junior hockey goal off a rebound from a Hadland shot giving the Blizzard a 3-0 lead before the 10 minute mark. Sanborn also picked up an assist. Klingbeil came out even faster in the second scoring a half minute in off a nice pass from McIntyre and Logan Lukasezck. Then the power play heated up with goals from Justin Wasvick and Ethan Moerke building a 6-0 lead before Minnesota got on the board to close out the 2nd period. The Blizzard added three more goals in the 3rd period including two more on the power play from Sean Kenny and Ryan Hadland. Hadland also scored and even strength goal for his 5th point of the night. McIntyre, Klingbeil and Kaden Peterson each had 3 point nights. Andrew Tuttle made 20 saves for his 6th win of the year.
