BLIZZARD CAP OFF WEEKEND WITH A WIN

BLIZZARD PLAY 3 GAMES IN 4 DAYS AND GO 1-2

The Blizzard hosted the Rochester Grizzlies for midweek hockey last Wednesday on Alumni Night presented by Elden’s Fresh Foods. The Grizzlies got the opening goal at the 16:51 mark of the 1st period and doubled their lead in the final seconds of the opening frame. Both teams skated to a scoreless 2nd period with Chase Collings getting the Blizzard on the board at the 15:55 mark of the 3rd from Smidt and Benson. Serene stopped 40 of 42 on the Blizzard loss.

Making the short trip down to Willmar on Friday the Warhawks erupted for a 5 goal opening period and added goals in the 2nd and 3rd giving the Blizzard a 0-7 loss on the road. Adam Holien and Bode Ekblad shared the net for the Blizzard with Ekblad stopping 15 of 21 and Holien stopping 11 of 12 on the loss.

Back at the RCC for Saturday night, the Blizzard found themselves down 0-1 after the 1st period with the Moose scoring at the 8:27 mark. Kaden Roness got the Blizzard on the board at the 13.23 mark on a play from Hubmer and Grady Stallman netted a PPG goal to take the lead shortly after at the 11:40 mark from Waller and Smidt. The Moose were able to tie the game at 2 a piece early in the 3rd period but the Blizzard responded with 3 straight goals. Grady Stallman got his 2nd of the night from Rauser and Smidt regaining the lead with Blake Breiland netting another PPG making it 4-2 from Roness and Friborg. Caleb Waller sealed the win from Stallman and Ness as the Blizzard skated to a 5-2 win over the Moose. Serene stopped 28 of 30 on the victory.

Blizzard are on the road facing the Minnesota Wilderness this weekend at the Hippodrome.
