Blizzard Battle Bruins

Oct 19, 2011

ALEXANDRIA, Minn. — The Alexandria Blizzard will have their sticks ready this series as they encounter the 5-3-1 Austin Bruins.

A challenge for the Blizzard will be to find an opening in the net against Bruins goalie Nick Lehr. Lehr performed well on Saturday when he saved 38 pucks to produce a shutout against the leaders of the central division, the Bismarck Bobcats.

“No matter what happens you just have to be ready to do your job,” said goalie for the Blizzard, Jacob Meyers.

The Blizzard will rely on goalies; Jacob Meyers, Jameson Shortreed and Zach Woodman to be an equally defensive threat in the net.

The Blizzard will meet face-to-face with the Bruins for the first time this season. Head Coach Doc DelCastillo said without having played the Bruins yet the team does not have a specific game plan.

“With teams in our league, once a goal is scored the momentum really shifts. We just have to get shots and scoring opportunities,” said DelCastillo.

Friday night’s game will be held at the Runestone Community Center at 7:30 p.m.  Make sure you are in attendance for the AAA honor night as well as the unveiling of the 2010-2011 Central Division Championship Banner.

The Blizzard will then head to Riverside Arena Saturday to square-off against the Bruins at 7:05 p.m.
