Benson's hat trick helped the Blizzard crush the Ice Hawks 15-0

Luke Benson led the way with a hat trick as the Alexandria Blizzard crushed the Rochester Ice Hawks 15-0 in a home game at Runestone Community Center in Alexandria. Elias Thompson, Michael Behl and Dylan Giorgio also had big nights with 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists), 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) and 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) respectively. What's more, Kyle Hayden posted a shutout, stopping all 12 of Rochester shots throughout the game. The Alexandria Blizzard took the lead early in the first on a goal from Peter Johnson and never looked back.

Josiah Roen had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 2 goals and Jack Mellstrom delivered for his team with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists).

In the first period, Johnson opened the scoring for Alexandria with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 0:23 with helpers from his teammates Benson and Hermann. Benson netted a goal at 3:54 with assists from Skar and Thompson. Benson put in a goal at 19:35 with helpers from his linemates, Behl and Hermann.

In the second period, Behl deposited a goal at 4:34 with assists from his linemates, Benson and Thompson. Benson quickly followed with a goal at 5:43 with helpers from his linemates, Thompson and Behl. Roen scored a goal at 14:24 with assists from his linemates, Frerichs and Meister. Roen quickly followed with a goal at 15:00 with helpers from his linemates, Worley and Scanlon. Nelson quickly followed with a goal at 16:45 with assists from Giorgio and Mellstrom.

During the third period, Giorgio deposited a goal at 0:40 with helpers from his linemates, Payne and Nelson. Skar put in a goal at 7:38 with assists from Payne and Giorgio. Mellstrom netted a goal at 12:02 with helpers from Payne and Giorgio. Meister quickly followed with a goal at 12:46 with assists from his linemates, Frerichs and Renn. Beltz put in a goal at 15:44 with helpers from Johnson and Scanlon. Frerichs deposited a goal at 17:52 with assists from Mellstrom and Behl. Thompson quickly followed with a goal at 19:05 with helpers from his linemates, Benson and Hermann.

The Blizzard’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Hayden’s shutout, as he stopped all 12 of the shots he faced. Hayden’s counterpart, Murphy, also had a big night, managing to stop 43 of 50, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Alexandria Blizzard’s record to (22-13-0-1).
