The Alexandria Blizzard pulled out an 8-7 (OT) overtime victory over the Twin City Steel on a clutch goal by Aammir Freese.
Alexandria overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Blizzard trailed 7-4 after a goal by Twin City\’s Chase Myers-Beck at 6:47 in the third period. Alexandria tied things up at 7-7 on a goal by Joe Anderson at 16:10 in the third period.
The Steel were unable to stop the Blizzard from sending pucks towards the net, and Alexandria eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. The Blizzard\’s goal total was higher than their season average. Alexandria has scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign. The Blizzard could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.
Alexandria additionally got points from Tyler Sworsky, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Mick Dhein, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Alexandria also got a goal from Garrett Skinner as well. Other players who recorded assists for Alexandria were Ian Ecklund, who had three, Danny Pelzer and Gavin Mindt, who contributed one a piece, and Jake Maxson and Nate Mettenburg, who each chipped in two.
Twin City forced Blizzard\’s netminders to work all game long, totaling 48 shots and forcing 41 saves. Evan Bisek made 24 stops and Tanner Elmore made 17. The Steel excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Twin City outdid its season average for goals scored. The Steel average 3.4 goals per game.
Twin City also had goals scored by Jace Childs, who had two and Jerod Sabaska and Tanner Duffney, who each put in one. In addition, Twin City received assists from Mathias Ahman, who had three, Jordan Moran, Tyler Lodin, and Isaac Hale, who contributed one a piece, and Dylan Lincoln, Tony Arias, and Alexander Konnov, who each chipped in two.
Moran rejected 26 shots on goal for Twin City. The Steel incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
