Alexandria downs Rochester, 6-2

Aaron Ryback tallied one point to lead Alexandria to a 6-2 victory over Rochester.

Alexandria excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Rochester was unable to stop Alexandria from sending pucks towards the net, and Alexandria eventually piled up 57 shots on goal. Alexandria surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Alexandria averages 2.9 goals per game.

Logan Nelson also scored for Alexandria. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Tony Arias, who had two, Trent Olson, who had three, and Jack Cernohous, Mason Hautala, Alex Bowe, AJ Gullickson, and Connor Nilson, who each chipped in one.

Rochester forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and one major for 69 minutes in penalty time. Rochester had been averaging 29.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Rochester was helped by Griffen Buck, who registered one goal. Buck scored 1:33 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Alexandria. Hunter Heightland picked up the assist. Rochester also got a goal from Dominik Bogdzuil as well. More assists for Rochester came via Nick Paulson, who had one.

Brey Effertz recorded 15 saves for Alexandria. Alexandria incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Rochester\’s Zach Mains stopped 51 shots out of the 57 that he faced.
