Alexandria completes comeback, beats Breezy Point, 4-3

The Alexandria Blizzard rallied from two goals down to secure a 4-3 win over the Breezy Point North Stars.

Alexandria never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Blizzard trailed 2-0 after a short handed goal by Breezy Point\’s Crosby Steen at 4:56 in the first period. Alexandria tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Luke Pavelich at 16:02 in the third period. The Blizzard got the game winner at 19:55 in the third period on a goal by Pavelich.

Alexandria was led by Kyle Jones, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

The Blizzard racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Alexandria had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Blizzard\’s offense rang up 38 shots on the North Stars\’ net. Team\’s forwards weren\’t the only contributers offensively, and the team\’s defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Alexandria also got points from Bo Gronseth, who also registered one goal and one assist. Alexandria also got a goal from Dylan Pechovnik as well. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Tyler Sworsky and AJ Gullickson, who each chipped in one and Trent Olson and Logan Norman, who contributed two each.

Breezy Point\’s penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The North Stars surpassed its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game. Breezy Point stifled Alexandria\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Blizzard were unable to stop the North Stars from sending pucks towards the net, and Breezy Point eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

The North Stars were helped by Ryan Mezera, who racked up one goal. Mezera scored short handed 3:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Breezy Point. Jordan Carey picked up the assist. Nick Blanchette also scored for Breezy Point. More assists for Breezy Point came via Yegor Paliy, who had one.

Evan Bisek rejected 37 shots on goal for Alexandria. The Blizzard registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Breezy Point\’s Joe Licata stopped 34 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The North Stars registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
