Blizzard Struggle against Bruins

Dec 4, 2011

ALEXANDRIA, Minn.— After a Thanksgiving sweep the Alexandra Blizzard lose two straight games to the Austin Bruins over the weekend.

On Friday, the Blizzard fell to the Bruins in the Runestone Community Center. Captain, Tommy Williams, scored the Blizzards sole goal late in the third, but ultimately the Blizzard were defeated 1-4.

On Saturday, the Blizzard traveled to the Riverside Arena to rematch the Bruins. As the first period came to an end the Bruins had scored five times creating a 5-0 lead.

In the second, it would take one more goal from the Bruin side before the Blizzard would make their mark on the scoreboard. Blizzard forward, Tucker Coborn, scored back to back goals to trail the Bruins 2-6.

“We started both games slow. Our effort wasn’t where it should’ve been and we got away from the style that has been winning us games so far,” said Coborn.

The Blizzard would go on to lose to the Bruins 3-9.

The Blizzard will be looking for redemption as they host the Bruins Friday night in the Runestone Community Center. The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Blizzard face-off against the Coulee Region Chill at 7:30 p.m. in the RCC.
