Blizzard Beat North Iowa in Season Series Finale

Alexandria traveled to North Iowa this weekend for the final regular season series against the Bulls.

On Saturday night they fell behind 2-0 after the 1st period and that was as close as they got dropping the opener 7-0.

On Sunday it was the Blizzard who jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the 1st. Dallas Duckson opened the scoring with his 9th of the season six and a half minutes in. Colin Tushie and Jered Sanborn picked up the assists. A few minutes later Nikolai Rajala scored his 5th of the season off assists from Sean Kenny and Caleb Strong. North Iowa came back to tie the game before Trent Sylvester scored his 1st of the year on the power play with just under 4 minutes to play in the 2nd period. Tushie picked up another assist. With the game tied 3-3 Sean Kenny skated in shorthanded and ripped a backhand home to give the Blizzard a 4-3 lead with just over 10 minutes to play. Atticus Kelly made 35 saves including multiple stops down the stretch to secure his first victory in net with the Blizzard.

The Blizzard (11-15-1 – 23pts) are in 4th place in the West. They will host Willmar (14-12 – 28 pts) on Friday night and New Ulm (4-19-2 – 10 pts) on Saturday. The puck drops both nights at 7:10 pm and tickets are available online at tickets.alexandriablizzard.com Catch the action on hockeytv.com
