The Blizzard shutout the Ice Hawks 5-0

The Alexandria Blizzard's offense had a big night, peppering the Rochester Ice Hawks with 44 shots throughout the game, to go along with Tyler Thompson's shutout. The Alexandria Blizzard took the lead early in the first on a goal from Caleb Anderson and never looked back. Caleb Anderson did his part, adding 2 goals and Brenden Payne contributed with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
During the first period, Anderson opened the scoring for Alexandria with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 3:57 with helpers from teammates Mellstrom and Lucas. Meyer put in a goal at 11:02 with an assist from defenseman Nilson.
During the second, Payne netted a goal at 8:57 with a helper from defenseman Cernohous. Anderson scored a goal at 18:08 with an assist from his linemate Payne.
In the third period, Scanlon put in a goal at 14:38 with a helper from fellow Blizzard forward Lucas.

Alexandria’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Thompson’s shutout, as he stopped all 18 of the shots he faced. Thompson’s counterpart, Schmitz, also had a big night, managing to stop 39 of 44, but ultimately fell short.
