The Blizzard shutout the Ice Hawks 11-0

Brett Meister, Logan Nelson and Brenden Payne had big nights with 5 points (4 goals, 1 assist), 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) and 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists) respectively as the Alexandria Blizzard crushed the Rochester Ice Hawks 11-0 in a home game at Runestone Community Center in Alexandria. Besides, the Alexandria Blizzard's offense had a big night, peppering Rochester with 58 shots throughout the game, to go along with Kyle Hayden's shutout. The Alexandria Blizzard took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Brett Meister and never looked back.

Dylan Giorgio delivered for his team with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Josiah Roen chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

In the first, Meister opened the scoring for the Blizzard with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 5:06 with helpers from his linemates, Renn and Lindgren. Meister put in a goal at 18:58 with helpers from his linemates, Nelson and Payne.

During the second, Giorgio deposited a goal at 1:32 with assists from Sanborn and Johnson. Roen quickly followed with a goal at 3:17 with helpers from teammates Scanlon and Miner. Thompson scored a goal at 13:54 with assists from Roen and Johnson. Payne put in a goal at 17:08 with helpers from Meister and Johnson. Nelson quickly followed with a goal at 17:23 with an assist from his linemate Payne. Meister netted a goal at 19:40 with helpers from his linemates, Lindgren and Renn.

During the third period, Meister put in a goal at 0:56 with an assist from Lindgren. Giorgio deposited a goal at 6:58 with helpers from his linemates, Nelson and Payne. Nelson scored a goal at 16:42 with assists from his linemates, Giorgio and Payne.

The Blizzard’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Hayden’s shutout, as he stopped all 15 of the shots he faced. Hayden’s counterpart, Bucklin, also had a big night, managing to stop 24 of 29, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Alexandria Blizzard’s record to (23-13-0-1).
