Brady Meyers came up big, stopping 29 of 33 shots throughout the game. The Alexandria Blizzard took the lead before the halfway point in the third on a goal from Brenden Payne.
Josiah Roen contributed with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Marshall Tschida chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist). Peyton Bolstad had a productive game with 2 goals and Keegan Bauman delivered for his team with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists).
In the first, Meister opened the scoring for Alexandria with a goal at 9:16 with helpers from Roen and Miner. Bolstad quickly followed with a goal at 10:58 with helpers from teammates Swope and Dixon.
In the second, Tschida answered for the Blizzard with a goal at 0:59 with assists from Frerichs and Meister. Shea answered for the WarHawks with a goal at 7:53 with helpers from Toll and Bauman. Bauman netted a goal at 11:24 with assists from Holt and Takashima. Bolstad quickly followed with a goal at 12:59 with helpers from his linemates, Bauman and Dixon. Roen answered for Alexandria with a goal at 18:24 with assists from Meister and Andres.
In the third period, Roen deposited a goal at 3:35 with helpers from Tschida and Frerichs. Payne put in what turned out to be the game winning goal at 9:08 with assists from Johnson and Giorgio.
The Blizzard’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Meyers’ big night as he stopped 29 of the 33 shots he faced. Meyers’ counterpart, Fry, also had a big night, managing to stop 26 of 31, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Alexandria Blizzard’s record to (27-13-1-1).
