In the first, Payne opened the scoring for the Blizzard with a goal at 1:06 with helpers from his linemates, Giorgio and Nelson. Worley netted a goal at 11:05 with a helper from defenseman Mellstrom. Magnavite finally put the Freeze on the board with a goal at 13:23 with assists from his linemates, Lindauer and Francois.
In the second, Giorgio answered for Alexandria with a goal at 17:16 with helpers from Payne and Skar. Mellstrom quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 18:32 with assists from his teammates Scanlon and Worley.
During the third period, Marquardt answered for the Freeze with a goal at 5:23 with helpers from Ratzloff and Fondadouze. Fondadouze deposited a goal at 19:14 with assists from his linemates, Lindauer and Seeger.
The Blizzard’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Hayden’s big night as he stopped 34 of the 37 shots he faced. Hayden’s counterpart, Graves, also had a big night, managing to stop 31 of 35, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Alexandria Blizzard’s record to (31-14-1-1).
