The Blizzard crushed the Steel 6-2

The Alexandria Blizzard's offense had a big night, peppering the New Ulm Steel with 35 shots throughout the game. The Alexandria Blizzard took the lead before the halfway point in the second on a goal from Brett Meister.

Logan Nelson contributed with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Brett Meister chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

During the first, Payne opened the scoring for Alexandria with a goal at 19:35 with a helper from his linemate Nelson.

In the second period, Smith answered for the Steel with a goal at 1:05 with helpers from his teammates Nagel and Mordini. Nelson answered for the Blizzard with a goal at 9:11 with assists from Payne and Skar. Meister scored what turned out to be the game winning goal at 11:41 with assists from Frerichs and Skar. Woytcke answered for New Ulm with a goal at 14:47 with a helper from Wieben. Skar quickly followed with a goal at 16:20. Westlund put in a goal at 19:46 with helpers from his linemates, Scanlon and Worley.

In the third period, Roen scored a goal at 17:06 with assists from Meister and Tschida.

The Blizzard’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Meyers’ big night as he stopped 32 of the 34 shots he faced. Meyers’ counterpart, Kenny, also had a big night, managing to stop 29 of 34, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Alexandria Blizzard’s record to (1-0-0-0).
