Sturos Leads Blizzard in Sweep over Bruins

Nov 6, 2011

ALEXANDRIA, Minn.—The Alexandria Blizzard storm the road as they defeat the Austin Bruins in the Riverside Arena Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, penalties set the Bruins back as the Blizzard took advantage of the situation scoring three of their five goals off of power-play opportunities.

Blizzard head coach Doc DelCastillo saw the potential of the Blizzard as a team when different members scored each of its five goals. Jordan Krebsbach, Justin Moody, Craig Lindegard, Seth Ronsberg and Tucker Coborn all found a way to put the puck in the net.

The Bruins bypassed a shut-out when Colton Kramer scored at the 14:53 mark in the third period finalizing a Blizzard victory 5-1.

On Saturday, forward Reid Sturos highlighted the Blizzard offense by scoring both in the first and second period to create a 2-0 lead. Bruins forward, CJ Smith, found a hole in the net to trail the Blizzard 1-2 wrapping up the second period.

With a scoreless third period, the Blizzard end the game with a 2-1 victory and sweep the series.

The Blizzard will meet the Bruins again Thursday in the Riverside Arena at 7:05 p.m.

On Friday, the Blizzard will start off the series playing host to the Coulee Region Chill in the Runestone Community Center at 7:30 p.m.

The Blizzard will then travel to the Omni Center Saturday to wrap up the series against the Chill at 7 p.m.
