Josiah Roen led the way with a hat trick as the Alexandria Blizzard crushed the Breezy Point North Stars 9-2 in a home game at Runestone Community Center in Alexandria. Besides, the Alexandria Blizzard's offense had a big night, peppering Breezy Point with 45 shots throughout the game. The Alexandria Blizzard took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Alec Skar and never looked back.
Brett Meister did his part, adding 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Riley Scanlon delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
During the first, Roen opened the scoring for the Blizzard with a goal at 2:13 with helpers from his teammates Thompson and Mellstrom. Hermann put in a goal at 9:01 with helpers from his linemates, Frerichs and Benson. Skar quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 10:58 with an assist from his defensive partner, Johnson. Payne netted a goal at 13:25 with helpers from his linemates, Behl and Meister.
During the second period, Meister put in a goal at 0:27.
In the third, Meister deposited a goal at 4:54 with assists from Nelson and Skar. Roen scored a goal at 6:58 with helpers from his linemates, Thompson and Scanlon. Roen netted a goal at 11:21 with assists from Nelson and Tschida. Petroske finally put Breezy Point on the board with a goal at 15:17 with a helper from fellow North Stars forward Hoyt. Scanlon quickly followed with a goal at 16:23 with assists from Tschida and Mellstrom. Flicek answered for Breezy Point with a goal at 18:59.
The Blizzard’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Meyers as he stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced. Meyers’ counterpart, Hershey, also had a big night, managing to stop 30 of 35, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Alexandria Blizzard’s record to (20-13-0-1).
