The Alexandria Blizzard of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Val Popowski has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Hamline University.
Popowski, 20, is in his second and final season playing junior hockey in the NA3HL. The 6’4/225 lbs. native of St. Michael, Minnesota, has 17 points (1 goal, 16 assists) in 27 games played so far during the 2019-20 season.
Last season, Popowski had 25 points in 46 games played. In his two-year NA3HL career, he has recorded 42 points in 73 games played to date.
“Hamline University is very excited to welcome Val to our Piper Hockey family. He a big, strong, mobile defenseman and we’re confident he will be a reliable student/athlete in our program,” said Piper head coach Cory Laylin.
“We are very proud of Val and his commitment to develop and earn his spot at the next level. Val has been the mainstay of our defensive unit over the last couple years. Val shows up every day and competes at a high level. We look forward to watching Val continue to grow and develop at the next level,” said Blizzard head coach Jeff Crouse.
