In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Peoria escaped with a 6-4 victory over Alexandria.
No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jiri Trubacik at 10:04 of the second period.
Austin Wisely had two goals and one assist to lead Peoria. Wisely scored the first of his two goals at 8:59 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Wisely\’s next tally made the score 5-3 Peoria with 7:48 left in the second period. Levi Armstrong picked up the assist.
Peoria forced Alexandria\’s goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 37 shots and forcing 31 saves. Joe Hacker made 12 stops and Brey Effertz made 19.
Peoria also got points from Armstrong, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Jason Hoehn, who also registered one goal and one assist, Thomas Kolaz, who also had one goal and one assist, and Trubacik, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Peoria received assists from Andrej Buchko, who had one.
Alexandria kept Peoria\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Ross Lipic made 28 saves on 32 shots.
Alexandria was helped by Trey Greene, who racked up one goal. Greene scored 18:48 into the second period to make the score 5-4 Peoria. Mason Hautala assisted on the tally. Alexandria also had goals scored by Jack Cernohous, Louis Gerzin, and Aaron Ryback, who each put in one. More assists for Alexandria came via Logan Nelson, who had two and Tony Arias and Connor Nilson, who contributed one each.
