La Crosse outlasts Alexandria, 3-2

The game between La Crosse and Alexandria was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end La Crosse emerged with a 3-2 win.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Cameron Pries at 9:02 of the third period.

Pries had a great game for La Crosse, netting two goals.

Alexandria\’s power play was ineffective against La Crosse\’s penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

La Crosse put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Alexandria to score on any of its six power plays. La Crosse\’s offense rang up 35 shots on Alexandria\’s net.

Ben Henderson also scored for La Crosse. In addition, La Crosse received assists from Hunter Dolan, who had two and JP Eykyn, Daniel Toycen, Taylor Trapp, and Mick Nisbet, who contributed one each.

Alexandria kept La Crosse\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Wagner made 30 saves on 32 shots. Alexandria struggled on the penalty kill, allowing La Crosse to score two power play goals on three chances.

Alexandria was helped by Alec Seeger, who registered one goal. Seeger scored 10:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alexandria. Riley Holwegner provided the assist. Alexandria also got a goal from Logan Norman as well. More assists for Alexandria came via Mason Hautala, who had one.

La Crosse incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Evan Bisek made 32 saves for Alexandria on 35 shots. Alexandria incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
