Gullickson nets hat trick, leads Alexandria to 7-4 win over Twin City

AJ Gullickson lifted Alexandria to a 7-4 victory with a hat trick against Twin City.

Gullickson notched his first tally 5:38 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:07 into the first and at 10:42 into the second.

Twin City\’s power play was ineffective against Alexandria\’s penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Alexandria forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. Alexandria surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. Alexandria\’s offense rang up 46 shots on Twin City\’s net. Alexandria surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Alexandria averages 3.8 goals per game.

Alexandria also got points from Tyler Frischmon, who also tallied one goal and four assists to lead the team in points and Caleb Anderson, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Alexandria included Logan Norman and Alec Seeger, who scored one goal each. More assists for Alexandria came via Alex Bowe, who had two and Jack Cernohous, Logan Nelson, Aaron Ryback, and Tony Arias, who contributed one each.

Twin City\’s penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. Twin City had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Twin City was helped by Luc Kreuser, who tallied three goals. Twin City also got a goal from Tyler Nystrom as well. In addition, Twin City received assists from Jared Erickson, who had two, Yannick Zehnder, who had three, and Paul Stehr, Joe Costello, and Bennett Witta, who each chipped in one.

Alexandria\’s Derrick LaCombe stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Alexandria registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Gunnar Howg made 39 saves for Twin City on 46 shots. Twin City ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jay Paul was ejected from the game.
