Breezy Point holds on for 4-3 win against Alexandria

The Alexandria Blizzard tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Breezy Point North Stars would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

A goal by Joe Costello put Breezy Point up 4-2 in the third period, but Alexandria pulled to within one on Hunter Saunders\’s tally 7:15 into the third period.

In a losing effort, the Blizzard were led by Trent Olson, who finished with two goals. Olson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:48 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Breezy Point. Alexandria had gained a power play chance when Alex Mimmack was whistled for cross checking. Bo Gronseth assisted on the tally. Olson\’s next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Breezy Point with 9:16 left in the second period. The Blizzard earned a power play opportunity when Jordan Carey was put in the box for boarding. Gronseth picked up the assist.

The North Stars forced Alexandria goalie Tanner Elmore to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Breezy Point additionally got points from Tyler Larwood, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Felix Conrads also scored for Breezy Point. In addition, Breezy Point received assists from Nick Blanchette, Blake Neumann, and Seyia Hayata, who each chipped in one.

The Blizzard\’s offense rang up 39 shots on Breezy Point\’s net. Alexandria got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Other players who recorded assists for Alexandria were Kyle Jones, who had two.

Dakota McDonald recorded 36 saves for the North Stars. Breezy Point incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Tanner Elmore made 32 saves for the Blizzard on 36 shots. Alexandria incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
