Breezy Point downs Alexandria in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Breezy Point North Stars pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Alexandria Blizzard on a clutch goal by Ryan Herbert.

Breezy Point overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The North Stars was down 2-0 after a goal by Alexandria\’s Tommy Hall at 9:15 in the second period. Breezy Point tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Tyler Larwood at 5:58 in the third period.

The North Stars\’ penalty kill excelled, as Breezy Point gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

The North Stars\’ offense rang up 41 shots on the Blizzard\’s net. Breezy Point\’s penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the North Stars finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Breezy Point also got points from Felix Conrads, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Yegor Paliy also scored for Breezy Point. In addition, Breezy Point received assists from Linder Kenyon, Sean Viti, and Nick Blanchette, who contributed one each.

Alexandria\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Breezy Point power plays. The Blizzard kept Breezy Point\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Jaxson Gosnell made 42 saves on 45 shots.

Alexandria was helped by Luke Pavelich, who registered one goal. Pavelich scored 2:33 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Alexandria. Tony Arias picked up the assist. Alexandria also got a goal from Tom Schmidt as well. More assists for Alexandria came via David Becker, Gavin Mindt, and Nate Mettenburg, who each chipped in one.

Evan Bisek made 37 saves for the Blizzard on 41 shots. Alexandria ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Blizzard, Bo Gronseth was ejected from the game.
