Alexandria hosted New Ulm on Friday and then finished off a three game set with the Steel in New Ulm on Saturday.
Friday night the Blizzard got out to a fast start with 3 goals amid 20 shots on net in the first period, en route to a 7-2 victory. Ben Tschida, Ryan Hadland and Sean Kenny were the goal scorers with Hadland and Kenny also picking up assists. Cole Klingbeil and Logan Lukasezck increased the Blizzard lead to 5-0 midway through the 2nd period before New Ulm got on the board. Klingbeil and Hadland scored their 2nd goals of the game late in the second period giving Alexandria a 7-2 lead, which ended up being the final. Joey Greilich improved to 4-2 with 29 saves in the victory. Logan Lukasezck led all scorers with 4 points ( 1 G 3A ) Hadland and Sean Kenny had 3 point nights.
Saturday night the Blizzard went for the knockout early scoring 5 goals within the first eleven minutes of the game, en route to a 6-0 victory. Michael Debrito scored his 7th, and 8th of the season in the first five minutes, then Zach DeMarce, Ben Tshcida, and Alex Heidenreich continued the 1st period surge. After a scoreless second period Debrito got his first Junior Hockey Hat Trick moments into the third. Andrew Tuttle stopped all 26 shots he faced for his first Junior Hockey shutout. Debrito, Matt Scribner, Ben Tschida, and Joe Gronholz all had 3 point nights.
The Blizzard evened their record at 6-6 and moved 4 points ahead of the Steel taking over 4th place in the Western Division. They will travel to Breezy Point on Friday to take on the Loons in their lone game this weekend. The Puck drops at 7:30 pm.
