Blizzard Stay Perfect Against New Ulm

Alexandria hit the road Saturday to take on the New Ulm Steel and extended their playoff cushion over New Ulm with a 5-2 victory.

Alex Heidenreich backed up his 5 point performance last Wednesday against the Loons, with a 4 goal night. Heidenreich scored both 1st period goals for the Blizzard staking them to a 2-1 lead after one. Tyler Klingbeil and Brennen Brecht assisted on Heidenreich’s 2nd of the period. Ryan Hadland opened the scoring in the 2nd period with a power play goal six minutes in. Kaden Peterson and Sean Kenny assisted on Hadland’s 19th of the year. New Ulm pulled within a goal moments later but it was Heidenreich, from Kenny and Hadland, completing his hat trick with just under three minutes left for a 4-2 Blizzard lead after two. Heidenreich wasn’t finished, scoring his 4th of the game and 11th of the season on the power play to close out the scoring in the 3rd period. Cole Klingbeil, and Justin Wasvick picked up the assists. Bailey Rosch stopped 17 of 19 to improve to 5-4-0-1 on the year and 6-0 at New Ulm dating back to the ‘19-‘20 season.
