Blizzard Split with Wings

ALEXANDRIA, Minn.—The Alexandria Blizzard split for the second series in a row as they encountered both victory and defeat hosting the Aberdeen Wings in the Runestone Community Center.

            After 4o minutes and a scoreless first and second period on Friday, it was anyone’s game going into the third period. Craig Lindegard, a forward for the Blizzard shed some light on the ice when he scored his first goal of the season at the 4:17 mark.

            A little over a minute later, fellow Blizzard forward Seth Ronsberg scored again finalizing a 2-0 shut-out against the Wings.

            On Saturday, the tides turned as the action on the ice took place during the first and second periods. The Wings attacked late in the first period with back to back goals from forwards Cory Ward and Bob Bruski. The Blizzard trailed 0-2 going into the second period.

            In the second, Gage Torrel placed the puck in the net and a goal on the scoreboard for the Blizzard making it a 1-2 game.

            The Wings took advantage of a power play opportunity when Kevin Becker scored at the 8:41 mark.

            With their opportunity, the Blizzard rallied back as Dylan Zink put in a power play goal of his own to wrap up the second period 2-3. The third period was a quite one with neither team scoring as the Wings clinched their first win over the Blizzard this season.

            The Blizzard will travel to Austin to take on the Bruins in the Riverside Arena. The puck will drop bothFriday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
