Blizzard Split Weekend With Bobcats

ALEXANDRIA, Minn.– It proved to be home court advantage that determined the results of this weekends match-up against the Bismarck Bobcats. The Alexandria Blizzard turned out a victory against the Bobcats at home and then fell to them at the VFW Sports Center.

In Alexandria, the Bobcats struck first with their sole goal coming from Ryan Callahan in the first.

The Blizzard took control of the rest of the game starting with an in and out goal from Dylan Zink to close out the first. Gage Torrel scored the only goal for the second period.

Reid Sturos and Tucker Coborn both took advantage of power play opportunities scoring for the Blizzard in the third. Grant Eichstadt sealed the 5-1 victory over the Bobcats in the Runestone Community Center.

In Bismarck, the Blizzard swarmed first with a goal from Brighton, Mich. native, Reid Sturos.

The Bobcats handled the second period with goals from Castan Sommer and Francis DeAugustine and would go on to defeat the Blizzard 6-3.

The Blizzard will host Coulee Region Chill Friday and Saturday in the Runestone Community Center. The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, The Fourth Annual Wine, Women & Hockey night presented by Definitive Woman Magazine will take place. Tickets are $29 and include the game ticket, wine, gourmet food, Hilltop Lumber Loft VIP seating and pamper-yourself stations. For tickets call 320-763-7600.

On Saturday, Hilltop Lumber is giving away 144 hockey sticks to the first fans to enter the arena. Make sure to come early, doors open at 6:30 p.m.!
