Alexandria picked up a road win on Friday against the Loons but lost their home game on Saturday against Granite City.
Friday night Justin Wasvick led the way with a hat trick in an 8-1 victory up in Breezy Point. Alexandria built a 5-0 lead early in the 3rd period, then capped off the night with 3 more goals after the Loons got on the board. Ethan Moerke picked up 3 assists, and the Blizzard had multi point games from Alex Heidenreich, Colby Nickel, Kyle Mischke, Matt McIntyre, Blaze Braswell, and Zach DeMarce. Joey Greilich stopped 29 of 30 to improve his record to 7-5.
Saturday night the Blizzard tried to end the Lumberjacks 30 game winning streak, but came up short in a 6-2 loss. The game was scoreless until the six minute mark of the 2nd period when Granite City erupted for 4 goals in a 5 minute span to open up a 4-0 lead. Ethan Moerke scored midway through the 3rd period to pull the Blizzard within three, but Granite City responded moments later and added another before Zach DeMarce scored in the final minute on a snipe from inside the circles. DeMarce was the lone multi point scorer for the Blizzard.
