BLIZZARD DOUBLE UP ON TOROS FRIDAY AND FALL IN OT SATURDAY

Mason City netted the lone goal in the 1st with a late tally from Schauer at the 19:18 mark during Fridays game. Matt McIntyre got the Blizzard on the board with his goal halfway through the 2nd but Mason City quickly regained the lead with a goal of their own. A goal by Eli Fletcher at the 10:47 mark opened things up for the Blizzard as they added two more goals as both Reece Hubmer and Justin Wasvick were able to beat Devin Peck. Mason City came out in the 3rd and responded quickly on a goal by Thomas to cut the lead to one until Tyler Kludt netted his first Blizzard goal at the 16:34 mark of the third followed by a Ashton Collings goal for the 6-3 victory. Nolan LaCosse stopped 25 of 28 shots and the Blizzard outshot the Toros 48 to 28.

In a tight fought battle Saturday night, the Blizzard opened the 1st period with a goal from Jack Carter at the 3:37 mark only to have the Toros respond quickly again with a goal of their own from Thomas a few minutes later. Both teams failed to produce any offense for the next 40 minutes with only 11 combined shots on goal in the second period. It wasn’t until the 4:43 mark of OT that the Toros beat LaCosse with Berg getting the game winner for the Toros and the Blizzard fell 1-2 in OT.

The Blizzard take the road this weekend with an October 20th matchup with the MN Loons and then take on the Rochester Grizzlies on the 21st.

The next home game will be October 27th as the Oregon Tradesmen come to the RCC with Fridays game being “Pink in the Rink” night presented by Vance Thompson Vision of Alexandria.
