BLIZZARD PACK THE STANDS FOR CUB FOODS NIGHT
The Blizzard welcomed the West Bend Power to town for a pair of games this past weekend. Friday night saw The Blizzard jumped ahead 8:29 into the first period and they would never looked back. Eli Fletcher snagged his team-high 14th goal of the year to open the scoring. It was again Alexandria striking in the second period. This time it was Markus Olson on the power play with his 10th of the campaign. The Blizzard continued to pour it on in the third. Caleb Waller found his 10th goal as well under two minutes into the third before Olson grabbed his 11th of the year and second of the game into the empty net. West Bend broke the shutout bid with only eight seconds to play. Kyle Abrahamson picked up his 10th win stopping 41 shots.
Saturday night the same two teams faced off in another close game. The first period was a tightly contested defensive battle that saw the score 0-0 after one. However, the second period was another matter. The Power scored all three of their goals in the middle frame. Eli Fletcher got the Blizzard on the board with a power play goal late in the 2nd period that gave the crowd their chance to toss the teddy bears on the ice. Markus Olson got the Blizzard within one goal on a power play goal in the 3rd. The Blizzard pressed hard in the 3rd period but were unable to get the equalizer falling 3-2. Kyle Abrahamson stopped 23 shots in the loss.
The Alexandria Blizzard face the Granite City LumberJacks this Friday at Miller Buick GMC Arena before the NA3HL Showcase starts up on Sunday.
