Mar 3, 2012

ALEXANDRIA, Minn.–The Alexandria Blizzard coming off a 10-0 victory over the Coulee Region Chill struggle to make ends meet with a late shoot-out victory over Minot Minotauros and a loss to the Bismarck Bobcats.

In Minot, defensemen Carl Krieger for the Minotauros was able to get the puck past February’s NAHL Goalie of the Month, Jacob Meyers to score the sole goal of the first period.

Seth Ronsberg took advantage of the  power-play opportunity in the second period scoring for the Blizzard to shut out the second with a 1-1 tie.

In the third, defensemen Craig Lindegard scored the second straight goal for the Blizzard to lead the Minotauros 2-1 at the 11:24 mark. With 11 seconds left in the game and an extra attacker the Minotauros forward, Derek Tylka scored sending the game into overtime.

After five minutes of play, the scoreless overtime turned into a shoot-out. The Blizzard would sneak past with a 2-0 shoot-out win and a 3-2 victory over the Minotauros.

In Bismarck, the Bobcats controlled the entire first period with three goals and continued the momentum scoring two more goals early in the second period. Newcomer, Matt Youso showed a flash of the light for the Blizzard scoring late in the second period to trail the Bobcats 1-5.

However, Youso’s goal would prove to be the only one for the Blizzard as the Bobcats went on to score their final goal in the third to defeat the Blizzard 6-1.
