BLIZZARD RIDING 2 GAME WIN STREAK

Jan 19, 2023

After splitting their series with Mason City over the weekend, the Blizzard started another win streak with a 6-2 victory over New Ulm on Faith and Family Night presented by the Alexandria YMCA, The Aagard Group, and Douglas Machine. Alexandria jumped out to a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the game when Ashton Collings finished off a nice two on one with Joe Gronholz. Matt McIntyre also assisted on Colling’s 8th of the season. Ryan Hadland opened the 2nd period with a goal to give the Blizzard another lead. Sean Kenny brought the puck across the blue line then fed Gavin Carlson who skated in alone before dropping to Hadland who buried his 24th of the year for a 2-1 lead. The Steel came right back again to tie it, but then Alexandria took control. It was Collings again, this time from Kenny and McIntyre for a 3-2 Blizzard lead. Then it was Justin Wasvick tipping in a shot from Wyatt Johnson for a power play goal, and then Johnson buried one of his own from the slot off a nice feed from Jayden Luck and Gavin Carlson for a 5-2 lead after two. Wyatt Johnson capped off his 3 point night with a power play goal to open the 3rd period, and Alex Lamont stopped 18 of 20 to improve to 9-2 on the season.
