BLIZZARD PERFECT HOMESTAND

Nov 28, 2022

Alexandria wrapped up a perfect home stand (3-0) with a 5-3 win over New Ulm on Saturday.

The Blizzard battled back after surrendering the first goal midway through the opening period. Sean Kenny coming off his hat trick on Wednesday tied the game off a nice pass from Caleb Moore that gave him some room in front where he buried his own rebound. Ryan Hadland picked up the 2nd assist. Charlie Larsen stayed hot with his 5th of the season on the power play late in the second. Joe Gronholz set him up for a one timer from the high slot during a two man advantage. Then Ryan Hadland scored another power play goal with just over a minute remaining in the second for a 3-1 Blizzard lead heading into the 3rd. New Ulm stole that momentum quickly tying the game with 2 goals in the first minute of the period. Ethan Moerke gave the Blizzard the lead again with his 6th of the season and 3rd in as many games. A couple minutes later Justin Wasvick scored the Blizzard first shorthanded goal of the season for a two goal cushion. Alex Lamont made it stick as he stopped 26 shots to improve to 4-2 on the year. Ryan Hadland and Sean Kenny led all scorers with 3 points each and Joe Gronholz continued his torrid pace with another 2 point night.
