BLIZZARD OUTSCORE TOROS 15 TO 6 IN WEEKEND SWEEP

THE BLIZZARD STICKS REMAIN HOT AS THEY DOMINATE MASON CITY OVER THE WEEKEND

Quinten Freborg got the Blizzard started midway through the 1st period Friday night at the RCC and the Blizzard never looked back. Mason City tied the game at 1-1 at the 13:55 mark of the second before the Blizzard responded with 4 goals. Tyler Meyer netted a short handed goal with Blake Breiland and Zach Beson getting the other 2nd period goals for the Blizzard. Reece Hubmer made it 5-1 seconds into the 3rd period with the Toros netting their second goal of the game at the 10:46 mark with Grady Stallman netting another short handed goal in the final minute of the game for the 6-2 victory. Jayden Serene stopped 27 of 29 on the night.

Saturday was Pack the Stands night courtesy of Cub Foods of Alexandria and the Blizzard lit the lamp 9 times for the weekend sweep. Mason City got off to the early lead with a goal in the opening minute before Kaden Roness tied the game at the 13:04 mark. Mason City regained the lead at the 6:00 mark of the 1st with Zach Benson re-tying the game for the Blizzard on a power play goal to end the period tied at 2. The Blizzard came out hot for the 2nd period with 2 quick goals coming from Kaden Roness and Caleb Waller making it a 4-2 game but Mason City brought it to within one with a short handed goal midway through the 2nd. Easton Schmit had a quick answer with a power play goal less than a minute later with Caleb Waller adding a goal at the 6:53 mark for a 6-3 lead heading into the final period. The Toros got their 2nd goal from Buchanan midway through the 3rd but the Blizzard hung 3 more goals on the Toros with Grady Stallman netting two goals and Reece Hubmer with the 9th Blizzard goal. Jayden Serene earned the weekend sweep stopping 27 of 31 on Saturday night and the Blizzard advanced to 20-11-2-1 on the season.

Blizzard travel to Fogerty Ice Arena this Friday to take on the Minnesota Moose and return home Saturday with the Minnesota Wilderness in town.
