BLIZZARD DEFEAT LOONS AND GRIZZLIES TO MOVE INTO 2ND PLACE IN THE WEST
The Blizzard made a short trip up north Friday to face the MN Loons in Breezy Point with Justin Wasvick getting the scoring started early with a tally at the 2:54 mark of the 1st with Fletcher and Prohaska getting the assist. The Blizzard added two more goals in the 2nd period in a span of 28 seconds with Eli Fletcher and Reece Hubmer beating Loons goalie Chris Mazurek. Senden and LaCosse had the assist on Fletcher’s goal and Anthony and Taylor assisted on Hubmer’s goal. In the 3rd, the Blizzard got another early goal, this time from Chris Fotopoulos with assist going to Benson and Scribner. Halfway through the period Tyler Kludt added a goal of his own with Collings and Scribner getting the assist. The Loons finally got one past LaCosse at the 11:08 mark with the Blizzard taking the 5-1 victory. Shots on goal were 65 to 21 in favor of the Blizzard with LaCosse stopping 20 of 21 shots.
Saturday the Blizzard were down south to take on the first place Rochester Grizzlies. Similar to Friday’s game, the Blizzard got an early goal and never looked back. Chris Fotopoulos scored at the 1:46 mark of the 1st with Senden and Scribner getting the assist. Halfway through the 1st the Blizzard doubled their lead on a Eli Paloranta goal with Anthony and Carter getting the assist. The middle frame both teams were held scoreless and at the 10:21 mark of the 3rd period the Grizzlies cut the lead in half with a goal from Klotz. Ashton Collings sealed the victory for the Blizzard with a goal at the 16:53 mark and the Blizzard took home the 3-1 victory and moved into 2nd place in the west. The Grizzlies outshot the Blizzard 35 to 25 with another solid night by LaCosse stopping 34 of 35.
The Blizzard return to the RCC this weekend with a series with the Oregon Tradesmen.
