BLIZZARD ARE RIDING AN 11 GAME WIN STREAK

After a dominating performance on Wednesday night, the Blizzard traveled to Breezy Point to finish the series with the MN Loons and wasted no time with an early power play opportunity. Justin Waavick netted his 19th of the season at the 2:30 mark thanks to a Ladlie interference call with Joe Gronholz and Matt Scribner getting the assists. Despite 17 shots on goal in the 1st, that was the only offense created by the Blizzard.

The 2nd period was another story with the Blizzard putting up 6 goals in the middle frame with the first coming in the opening minute of play with Bazl Cook scoring his 1st of the year with George Moore and Gaborik Olson getting the helpers. A mere 10 seconds later, Markus Olson added his own goal on a play from Tyler Kludt and Joe Gronholz and followed up that up with another goal a few minutes later. Joe Gronholz and Gaborik Olson assisted on the second Olson goal. With another power play opportunity, Tyler Kludt capitalized on a play form Gronholz and Scribner to make it 5-0 Blizzard halfway through the 2nd period. At the 12:57 mark of the 2nd, Ashton Collings netted his 8th of the season with Bazl Cook and Chris Fotopoulos getting the assists. On a late 2nd period power play, the Blizzard once again made the Loons pay with Collings getting his second of the night, with Cook again on the assist and Reece Hubmer.

The Blizzard found themselves short handed three times in the first half of the 3rd period but once again jumped all over a power play opportunity scoring seconds into the man advantage with Joe Gronholz taking a play from Tyler Kludt and Gaborik Olson for his 7th of the season. Final shots on goal were 51 to 16 in favor of the Blizzard with Alexandria going 3 for 7 on the man advantage while taking six penalties.

The Blizzard sit tied for 2nd place in the west with Granite City, 6 points behind Rochester with a game in hand over the LumberJacks. The Blizzard are at home this Saturday against Granite City for Cub Foods “Pack the RCC” night with tickets available at Cub Foods while supplies last and at https://tickets.alexandriablizzard.com
