ALEXANDRIA BLIZZARD DROP PAIR OF GAMES WITH HOME-AND-HOME WITH LUMBERJACKS
The Blizzard traveled to Granite City on Friday to kick off a home-and-home series with the LumberJacks with the Jacks taking an early lead with a PPG at the 16:35 mark and doubled up their lead a few minutes later to take a 2-0 lead after the 1st period. The Jacks started the 2nd in similar fashion adding a third goal at the 14:06 mark and added two more, one at the 9:15 mark and then one coming at the 2:58 mark making it a 5-0 hockey game after two periods. Christian Crutcher got the Blizzard on the board in the 3rd period with an unassisted goal coming at the 10:12 mark with the Jack’s getting a late PPG in the final seconds for the 6-1 victory over the Blizzard.
Back at the RCC on Saturday, the LumberJacks got off to a strong start again netting 3 goals in the opening 15 minutes of play before Easton Schmit got the Blizzard on the board with an unassisted goal at the 4:12 mark. The middle period was filled with penalties including game misconducts for both sides with the Jacks producing the only offense making it a 1-4 game after two periods. Zach Benson made it a two goal differential scoring on a play from Ron’s and Krieg at the 17:33 mark before the LumberJacks came back with 3 goals in what was another period with the penalty box seeing lots of action. Wyatt Mineheine kept his stick hot scoring from Waller and Stallman at the 8:53 mark while Waller added one of his own with Stallman and Mineheine earning the assist. The Blizzard fell 4-7 and look to keep the momentum going from those late 3rd period goals.
The Blizzard are on the road until March 6th visiting Fogerty Ice Arena on February 20th and Mason City Arena February 27th and 28th.
