BLIZZARD DROP SEASON OPENER TO MASON CITY

BLIZZARD FALL TO TOROS 3-4 FRIDAY AND 3-5 SATURDAY

The Alexandria Blizzard started the 2025-2026 season on the road this past weekend traveling to Mason City to take on the Mason City Toros. Blaze Bauer starting the scoring for the Toros with Blake Breiland tying the game late in the 1st period for the Blizzard with Zgoda and Stallman on the assist. The two traded 2 goals each in the middle frame with Calab Waller answering the Toros 2nd goal on a play from Welz and Boughton and Kaden Roness answered the Toros on a power play with Stallman and Schmit earning the assist. Buchanan netted the game winner for the Toros in the 3rd with Jayden Serene stopping 26 of 30 shots on goal.

On Saturday, the Toros netted two goals in the 1st period and added two more in the 2nd before Blake Breiland got the Blizzard on the board with Bird earning the lone assist. Quinten Friborg added the Blizzard’s second goal shortly after on a play from Waller. Blake Breiland got the Blizzard within one with an early 3rd period goal with Freborg earning the assist but the Blizzard failed to net the equalizer and the Toros netted their 5th goal with 2:24 remaining. Bode Ekblad stopped 18 of 23 for the Blizzard.

Blizzard remain on the road this coming weekend as they will visit the Minnesota Wilderness.
